Notification regarding exit polls for Uttarakhand Assembly election 2022

Dehradun: Chief Electoral Officer, Uttarakhand Smt. Sowjanya said that the Election Commission of India has directed in the notification regarding exit polls keeping in view the General Elections-2022 in the state that the powers under sub-section (1) of section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 should be exercised. Whereas, in view of the provisions of sub-section (2) of the said section of the Election Commission of India, the period between 07:00 a.m. on the 10th February, 2022 and up to 06:30 p.m. on the 07th March, 2022, shall be deemed to be such period There shall be a ban on the conduct of exit polls of any kind in connection with the aforesaid general election and the publication or publicity of the result by print or electronic media or in any other manner, during which it shall be prohibited.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Smt. Sowjanya said that under section 126(1) (b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, during the period of 48 hours ending at the time fixed for the conclusion of polling in the respective polling areas of the above general elections, The display of any kind of election-related matter, including the results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in electronic media shall also be prohibited.
